In a newsletter, the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Afghanistan announced on Thursday that Sarajuddin Haqqani had engaged in discussions with media figures and political activists about the current issues and their potential solutions.
In this meeting, the Taliban Interior Minister emphasized that differences of opinion and challenges should be resolved through consultation and coordination to avoid missed opportunities.
The Taliban Interior Minister, Haqqani, said they are ready to conduct consultations and dialogue about a Loya Jirga to gain legitimacy.
Since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan, no nation has officially recognized their government as legitimate.
Meanwhile, he conveyed to experts and political activists that the current problems stem from the gap between modern education and religious teachings.
Since returning to power, the Taliban have heavily focused on religious education, and according to reports, they have reduced the academic content of the curriculum.
According to a statement released by the Taliban Ministry of Interior Affairs, Sarajuddin Haqqani spoke about the group’s relations with the region and the world, stating that the government of the Taliban has “no problem with anyone.” He claimed that the Taliban have upheld their promises in the Doha Agreement.
While the Taliban Interior Minister talks about understanding and consultation, critics argue that the group’s government has not provided space for the activities of different intellectual movements. They point out that women’s rights activists, the Taliban detain journalists and former security personnel daily.
Furthermore, they curtailed women’s access to education and employment, confining them to their homes.
