Nation gears up to host Green Climate Fund events

Preparations are underway for next week’s meeting of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board which Antigua and Barbuda has been selected to host.

Pre-meetings will kick off on Sunday ahead of the May 16-19 event being held in the Antigua Naval Dockyard. The GCF will also have another technical meeting from May 19-21 at a location to be determined.

The events are expected to bring more than 200 participants from across the world.

The GCF is a global multilateral fund set up to support the efforts of developing countries in responding to the challenges of climate change. It provides grants and loans equity, and guarantees resources for low-emission and climate-resilient development.

The funds provided by the GCF come from developed country governments, which contribute as part of their obligations under the UN Climate Change Convention.
