Ben Brown's night over early with knee injury in return

A knee injury has ended North Melbourne forward Ben Brown's return to the senior side early, with the 27-year-old forced from the ground midway through the first quarter.

The injury occurred when Cats' defender Mark Blicavs threw him to the ground in a tackle and his left knee was caught between Blicavs' legs.

Brown was taken into the rooms and was ruled out at quarter time from taking any further part in the match, with suspicion he may have hurt his medial ligament.

The key forward, who finished second in last year's Coleman Medal, has had a wretched season, kicking just eight goals in the first eight games before being dropped for the match against Adelaide.

The uncontracted forward is seen as a potential trade target at the end of the season with speculation continuing to swirl that the Kangaroos will offer him up to be traded.
