Please Explain podcast: containment measures strain as COVID-19 clusters multiply

Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has warned that Victoria has not yet seen the peak of the second coronavirus surge. The state now has more cases of community transmission than the rest of the country put together.

In New South Wales, 14 new cases have been linked to the Crossroads Hotel cluster. NSW Police Minister David Elliot has warned the hospitality industry to abide by the public health restrictions, or risk being shut down.

In this episode, The Sydney Morning Herald’s editor Lisa Davies is joined by health editor Kate Aubusson to discuss the surge in coronavirus cases in Australia and whether we’re heading towards tighter national restrictions.
