Your favourite places in your 5km lockdown zone

It's day four of Melbourne's stage four lockdown and as Premier Daniel Andrews says, each day in this pandemic feels like a month. Under the current lockdown rules, Melburnians are only allowed only to travel within a 5km radius of their home to go shopping and for one hour of exercise a day (with a few exemptions).

We asked readers to share with us where they are finding joy in their immediate surroundings as we deal with the sad news of mounting cases and increasing deaths. Here are some of your responses:

"I live near Flemington Racecourse and walk my dog here each morning. It’s nice to be able to see the city even from a distance." - Danielle

"Today, we’re taking our brand new baby Harry home from hospital. He was born on Monday during the weirdest time in history. We’re looking forward to taking him home to Windsor and using our daily hour outdoors to show him the best coffee shops. Luckily for us, our 5km covers the Tan and we can wait to take him for his first lap." - Ella

"We are very blessed to have a section of the beach between Frankston and Mt Eliza, Frankston Reservoir, Langwarrin Flora and Fauna Reserve, a section of the Peninsula Link trail, and the Mt Eliza Regional Park within our 5km radius, all within a quick walk or bike ride from our house - we don’t even need to get in the car! We make use of them regularly all year round for walking, running, bushwalking, and cycling, but current times make us appreciate even more where we live. It’s actually quite funny when everyone disparages Frankston, as it’s a wonderful place to live!" - Michelle

"I've never been more grateful to live next to the Dandenong Ranges National Park. I work in the city and it feels strange not to be amongst the hustle and bustle of Melbourne, but I can take a short stroll in the park and find views like this that make me feel like I'm not so far away." - Hayley
