The forest department arrested 12 fishermen last night (June 8, 2022) after they entered the Sundarbans violating ban on catching fish.
They were produced before a Bagerhat court today (June 9, 2022) after a case against them was filed under the Forest Act, reports our Bagerhat correspondent quoting Sharankhola Station Officer of Sundarbans (east) Asaduzzaman.

The fishermen were arrested from Araibeki junction of Sharankhola station in the east forest division of the Sundarbans Four boats, six sets of nets, four solar panels and four batteries were seized from them, he said.
Fishing in the Sundarbans has been banned from June 1 to August 31 for smooth breeding of fish inside the forest's rivers and canals.
