The driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw died and two of its passengers were injured after an unidentified vehicle hit it in Dhaka's Banani area early today.
The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam (50), hailing from Jashore Sadar upazila, according to sources.

Shahidul lost control over the auto-rickshaw after the unidentified vehicle hit it from behind near Army Stadium around 2:00am.
The auto-rickshaw rammed into footpath on impact, leaving the driver and passengers injured, said sub-inspector Jubaidul Islam of Banani Police Station quoting the injured.
On information, police took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Shahidul dead around 3:00am, he said.
The injured--Malati Rani (45) and her son Biswajit (30) -- are receiving treatment at DMCH.
