Lighter vessel owners increase fare for transporting goods by 15-22%

Lighter vessel owners today (August 11, 2022) announced an increase in the fare of transporting goods by 15 to 22 percent due to the fuel price hike.

Leaders of Bangladesh Cargo Vessel Owners Association, Coastal Ship Owners Association of Bangladesh and Inland Vessel Owners Association of Chattogram took the decision at a meeting in the port city.

According to the release, the fare has been increased by 22% to adjust the increased price of fuel with the fare fixed for transporting goods from different ghats of Kutubdia, Chattogram port and the Karnaphuli river to Dhaka, Barishal and Chandpur as mentioned in the current fare list of the WTC.

Apart from Dhaka, Barishal and Chandpur, 15 percent will be added to the previous fare to other destinations of the country.
