Man murdered female doctor after taking her to hotel for birthday celebrations: Rab

Md Rezaul Karim alias Reza, the suspect who was arrested in a case filed over the murder of a female doctor in Dhaka's Panthapath, killed her following argument over his affairs with several other women, Rab said today.

Reza took Jannatul Nayeem Siddique to a residential hotel at Panthapath by telling her of birthday celebrations being arranged there, the elite force said.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of Rab's legal and media wing, disclosed all the information at a press conference today (August 12, 2022).

"Rezaul Karim and Jannatul Nayeem Siddique (the female doctor) got into a relationship and married in October 2020 secretly and have stayed in different residential hotels several times," Rab said in a briefing today.

When the victim came to know about her husband's extra affairs, she often tried to counsel him and got into arguments with him many times, Rab said.

Following these incidents, Reza had been planning to kill Jannatul and on August 10, he booked a room in Family Service Apartment in the capital's Panthapath area. There they started arguing again and at one stage Reza stabbed Jannatul indiscriminately with a knife, Rab said.

Reza went into hiding after the murder but yesterday (August 11, 2022) Rapid Action Battalion members arrested him from Chattogram's Muradpur.

According to Rab, Reza, in primary interrogation, gave statement about his involvement with the murder.

Rab members also seized a blood-stained cloth, mobile phone, a bag and the mobile of victim Jannatul from his possession.

The victim's father later filed the murder case.
