No scope to go back to caretaker regime: Law minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq today (September 29, 2022) said there is no scope to go back to the caretaker government system as the apex court of the country has declared the system illegal.

"People of Bangladesh believe in rule of law and honour the Supreme Court of the country. The apex court of Bangladesh has declared the concept of caretaker government illegal and that is why, there is no scope now to go back to that system," he said.

The minister made the comment while replying to queries from journalistswhile attending a meeting as chief guest marking World Transport Dayorganised at Hotel Inter-Continental in Dhaka today.

Replying to another query, Minister Anisul Huq said the human rights situation in Bangladesh has improved as the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has progressed a lot in developing the human rights situation.

Earlier in the day, the law minister told the meeting that the necessity of the water transport is increasing in the country day by day and this trend will continue in future because of the increase of its population and economic progress.

The demand of food, energy, and water is increasing due to the rise of population which will enhance the necessity of water transport, renewable energy, and good economy, Anisul Huq added.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury also spoke at the functionas special guest.
