PM lying to int’l media about Khaleda’s cases

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was lying to international media about Khaleda Zia's case and convictions out of political vendetta.

He said, "Sheikh Hasina recently spoke to Voice of America. In her remarks, she completely lied about Khaleda Zia. There are no corruption cases against Khaleda Zia. False cases have been filed to keep Khaleda Zia detained so she cannot do politics."

Mirza Fakhrul made the remarks while addressing the National Workers' and Employees' Convention-2023.

BNP leaders and activists, along with at least 20 pro-BNP organisations, gathered at the capital's Motijheel area to join the convention to press home their one-point movement.

Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna said, "While our day labourers starve due to daily increases in commodity prices, the prime minister is in Virginia having dinner at her son's house. Joy bought 30 acres of land in Virginia. If we come to power, we will not spare these looters."

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President ASM Abdur Rab said that as the government has failed to control commodity prices, they have no right to remain in power.

"They have smuggled money out and looted banks. If they get caught, we won't be able to protect them from the people," he said.

BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan said, "The people of Bangladesh are going through the worst time possible. Despite having so many working people, they have no power. The government has forcefully captured power by denying people their right to vote."

"In the coming days, we will unite and protest together. This government has lost legitimacy, and one strong push will lead to its fall," he asserted.
