The High Court today gave a one-week time to two lower court judges, who placed actress Pori Moni on remand for the second and third time in a narcotics case, for submitting "proper explanation" to it about their conducts over granting the remand prayers.
The HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice ASM Abdul Mobin gave the time to two judges -- Metropolitan Magistrate Debbrata Biswas and Atikul Islam -- following a prayer moved by their lawyer Abdul Alim Miah Jewel seeking time for placing the explanation, Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Md Mizanur Rahman told The Daily Star.

The judges sought time as they could not prepare the explanations yet, he said.
AAG Mizanur also said the HC will pass an order on this issue on October 31 after the judges submit the written explanation.
On September 29, the bench led by Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam ordered the two lower court judges to give further explanation to it about their conducts over granting the remand prayers and also fixed October 24 (today) for passing further order on this issue.
On that day (September 29) Attorney General AM Amin Uddin requested the HC bench to pardon the two judges for their mistakes, saying that they are "young" officers and they have lack of training.
They are sorry and repented for the mistakes, the attorney general also said.
Investigation officer of the case, Golam Mostafa, today appeared along with an explanation before the HC bench in line with its September 29 order.
The HC bench delivered the order during hearing the petition filed by rights organisation Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) -- challenging the orders of the metropolitan magistrates granting the IO's prayers for taking Pori Moni on remand.
