Teenager stabbed to death in Cumilla

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death and five others injured during a clash between two groups of juvenile gangs over a badminton match at Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla last evening.

The deceased, identified as Pavel, son of Nurul Islam, was a resident of Phulernauri village under Gunabati union in the upazila, reports our Cumilla correspondent quoting Shuva Ranjan Chakma, officer-in-charge of Chauddagram Police Station.

Quoting locals, the OC, said a clash broke out between two groups of juvenile gangs at the badminton field, adjacent to Bhuiyan Bari, over a match where six persons sustained injuries, including stab wounds.

Locals rescued the injured and rushed them to Feni Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Pavel dead, added the OC.

The remaining five injured were shifted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

Being informed, police rushed to spot and brought the situation under control, the OC said, adding that a filing of a case is underway in this connection.

Efforts are on to nab the accused, he added.
