War criminal Gias Uddin Khan (80), who was serving his sentence at Dhaka Central Jail, passed away this morning (September 26, 2022).
He died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the hospital police outpost.

The body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy, he added.
Gias Uddin was brought to the emergency department of DMCH in an unconscious state around 9:30am. He was later declared dead by doctors, the inspector also said.
"Gias Uddin fell ill in the prison. He was brought to the hospital on the advice of the prison doctor. There doctors confirmed his death," said Prison guard Roknuzzaman who accompanied the deceased to DMCH.
Gias Uddin Khan, son of Mofiz Khan, hailed from Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh.
