Woman dies after being stabbed 'by father' in Chuadanga

A woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her father following a dispute in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga early today.

The deceased was identified as Morzina Khatun, 34, daughter of Azizul Haque of Baghadanga village in the same upazila.

Morzina's daughter Roksana Khatun, 13, was seriously injured when she tried to save her mother, our Chuadanga correspondent reports quoting Alamgir Kabir, officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Model Police Station.

Quoting locals, police said after her husband left Morzina, she started living with her father Azizul Haque along with her son and daughter.

Later, Azizul and his daughter Morzina jointly built a house by taking a loan from an NGO.

Early today, Azizul and Morzina had an argument over the payment of the instalments to the NGO.

Locals took Morzina and her daughter to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where Morzina was declared dead around 4:00am today, they said.

Mostafizur Rahman, a physician of the emergency department, said Morzina was brought dead.

Roksana was admitted to the hospital and she is now out of danger, the doctor said.

OC Alamgir Kabir said Morzina's body has been kept at Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Azizul went into hiding soon after the incident. A drive is on to arrest him, the OC said.
