Won’t let it become a ‘forgotten crisis’

Visiting US Assistant Secretary of the US Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, Julieta Valls Noyes yesterday said the United States, together with its international partners, will not allow Rohingyas to become a "forgotten crisis".

She made the comment after meeting the UN agencies working on the ground.

Noyes thanked all partners who work tirelessly to improve conditions of Rohingya refugees and advance their rights.

The US assistant secretary will also meet government officials to express US' gratitude for their generosity in hosting the Rohingya and other refugees fleeing the worsening humanitarian crisis in Myanmar.

Noyes is here on a five-day visit to Bangladesh which started on December 3 and will end on December 7.

Noyes also appreciated the role of the US Embassy in Dhaka for their "diligence, consistency, and unwavering advocacy for those in need".
