Brunei records zero cases for 16 days, nearly 200k BruHealth users The Bruneian

Brunei sees no new confirmed cases of the COVID-19 infection for 16 consecutive days with the total number of cases in the country to remain at 141.

No new recoveries were reported too which maintains recovered cases at 136, leaving only four active cases still under treatment at the National Isolation Centre in Tutong.

Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham Hj Jaafar in a press briefing said that two of the active cases are still in a critical condition with only one requiring the heart/lung machine ECMO and ventilator.

“Meanwhile, the other patient is on respiratory assistance and the rest are stable,” he said.

At present, a total of 2,679 individuals who are contact cases have completed quarantine in accordance with the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204).

“However, 164 individuals who recently arrived from overseas are in mandatory self-isolation at government designated isolation facilities,” said the minister, adding that 2,176 people have completed their isolation in these facilities.

In the past 24 hours, 218 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted from January 2020 to 18,411.

BruHealth app update

The tracing app BruHealth has accumulated 195,713 registered users with a total of 3,270 businesses and premises on board the newly-introduced platform.

The health minister further said that public cooperation in using the app and that QR code scanning in an out of premises are necessary to ensure community well-being as well as facilitating the ministry to conduct contact tracing in case of new outbreak of infection occurs.

Moreover, following the opening of mosques nationwide for Friday prayers on May 29, members of the public can book their slots on the mobile application beginning May 25 at 12 noon.  

“Phones that are not compatible with the app are encouraged to obtain a QR code from the website www.healthinfo.gov.bn for the Friday prayer slots,” said Minister and the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah further said that traffic flow into the mosque compound will be eased with the support of RBAF and RBPF personnel for QR code scanning.

He also announced that the Temburong Bridge operating hours will be extended from 6am until 10pm starting Sunday, May 24.

“The installed CCTVs will monitor the bridge 24 hours daily and the Temburong Bridge Management Committee would like to advise the public to adhere all rules and regulations while on the bridge,” he said.

Some of the rules include; no unnecessary stopping of vehicles by the roadside; be considerate when driving; call the Operation Centre at 123 should there be any emergencies and no littering.

Also in attendance at the press briefing was Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Mokti Haji Mohd Daud.
