Culmer: FNM sponsored PM’s rally

Free National Movement (FNM) Chairman Carl Culmer yesterday claimed that the party “sponsored” a town hall meeting held by the prime minister that turned into a party rally.

“Yes, the meeting last evening was sponsored by the FNM and not the government,” he said.

He was referring to a community meeting held by Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis at the Edumund Moxey Park. The meeting, though, morphed into a political rally.

“FNMs, will you join the victory train?” Minnis asked scores of supporters.

“Will you board the victory train? The victory train will not stop until 2022 when we disembark to be sworn in at Government House.”

Culmer said that this meeting was the first of several the party intends to have.

He added that this is a method the party is using to disseminate information and keep the public aware of what the government has accomplished.

“It is a part of the method we intend to use going forward – to communicate effectively what is going on, what has happened and what are the plans going forward,” Culmer said.

“We will also have an east, west and south meeting coming up to inform persons in those constituencies what is going on, what are the plans for those particular constituencies and what are the plans for the government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.”

During this meeting, Minnis launched his re-election bid touting his record in office, lashing critics and declaring that the victory train is officially on a roll.

Asked if the public will have an opportunity to voice concerns and ask questions at the upcoming meetings, Culmer said that the party will have to discuss the format moving forward.
