A man who was caught with 92 rounds of ammunition when police carried out a raid on his Seabreeze Lane home was yesterday sentenced to one year in prison.

Police arrested Rodrecus Todd, 32, after they seized 92 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 54 shotgun shells in 2015. Police officers also discovered six ounces of marijuana in the home.

Magistrate Samuel McKinney convicted Todd of possession of ammunition with intent to supply and simple possession of marijuana following a trial.

According to the evidence, police officers executed a search warrant on the home. During the search, the officers found a quantity of marijuana inside a dresser, which also contained Todd’s voter’s card.

A plastic bag under the sink contained multiple rounds of ammunition.

When questioned by police, Todd allegedly told the officers that he was holding the contraband for a friend who was locked up for a stolen vehicle.

Magistrate McKinney sentenced Todd to one year for the possession of ammunition with intent to supply. He was ordered to pay a $500 fine to avoid a default sentence of three months in prison.

Inspector Kendrick Bauld prosecuted and Miranda Adderley represented Todd.
