A Supreme Court judge on Wednesday formally struck a case against a murdered defendant off her calendar.

Prosecutors presented Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson with a death certificate for Malik Fernander, who was murdered on Exuma on November 10, 2022.

At the time of his murder, Fernander was on bail for two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

The charges stemmed from a shooting in Pinewood Gardens on February 16, 2018, that resulted in the deaths of Rashad Bethel and D’Siorn Symonette and an attempt on Roland Brown’s life.

However, Fernander’s co-accused, 23-year-old Keontae Pinder, will be tried on the allegation in August of this year.
