Two Murders One Day Apart — Murder Count Up 3 Notches

A 44-year-old and a 21-year-old, both males, were gunned down in separate shooting
incidents this week pushing the country’s murder count up two notches.
The 44-year-old, identified by a Bahama Journal source as Edward Butler was shot
outside his home on Acasia Avenue in Pinewood Gardens on Monday night.

“Police were alerted by Shot Spotter Technology to a number of shots being
discharged on Acasia Avenue, Pinewood Gardens.
“The male victim was standing outside his residence with another male and female
when the occupants of a black Nissan Note pulled up, produced a firearm, and shot
the victim multiple times about the body,” police said in a statement.
The victim was taken to hospital in a private vehicle where he later died.
The shooters left the scene in a northern direction toward Nassau Village according to
police, making good their escape.
One night later, on Tuesday night, police said an anonymous call about gunshots
being discharged in the area of First Street, Coconut Grove, led to investigations by
officers and the discovery of the bullet riddled body of a 21-year-old resident of the
area.

Coconut Grove. The responding officers made check of the area and discovered a
male victim with multiple gunshot injuries about the body at the rear of a business
establishment.
“Additionally, police were informed that the victim was walking in the area of First
Street and Poinciana Avenue when he was approached by a male who produced a
firearm, shot the victim and fled the area in an unknown direction making good his
escape,” police said.
EMS was on the scene and confirmed no signs of life.

The country’s murder count is up three notches, despite just two shootings this week.
A 33-year-old woman was arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Freeport on the
charge of murder related to a stabbing incident that occurred back on June 26, 2023.
Simone Outten was first charged with grievous harm in relation to the matter;
however, the charge was upgraded to murder.
According to reports, she was involved in an altercation with the victim, Patrick
Daxon while at their residence in Abaco on Monday 26th June 2023. The victim was
stabbed about the body and succumbed to his injuries while in hospital on Saturday
September 9th 2023.
Outten was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to the Department of
Correction in New Providence until December 14th 2023.
