A New Law to Replace the Definitive Agreement is on the Horizon

Anthony Mahler

The Briceño administration is getting ready to present a new piece of legislation to Cabinet and subsequently the House of Representatives, a bill that will replace the controversial Definitive Agreement.  While the proposed law is being tweaked, we asked Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler, when we caught up with him earlier today, for his thoughts on the new bill.

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism

“We’re in the process of going through the motions, ventilating and discussing the legislation and so, I believe, within the next couple of weeks we should have a final draft for people to see.”

Isani Cayetano

“From first perusal, is there anything that perhaps stands out to you, in terms of either a strong feature or concerns that you may have with either the language or the way how it is framed?”

Anthony Mahler

“Well I haven’t expressed that as yet to my colleagues, but I’ll do so over the next few days and we’ll share our thoughts with them.  But there are some things that need some adjustment.”
