S.O.S Security Owner Goes to Court for Not Paying His Employees

Tonight, over a dozen former Security Oriented Services employees saw their first day in court.  The former S.O.S employees filed separate civil suit claims against their former boss, Paul Garcia who owns the security company, located on Freetown Road in Belize City. S.O.S was the security company that was contracted by the government to provide security services to the judiciary for a three-year period. But when their services failed, they lost that contract to Triple A Security Services. The civil suit came about after the workers got fed up of not being paid for their time on the job. They staged “sick-outs” and a “go slow” until most of them quit and began seeking new posts with other companies or new jobs. Today at the first hearing, Magistrate Dennison Mannon was forced to grant an adjournment until April twenty-fourth in light of a letter received by the court from S.O.S boss, Paul Garcia’s attorney, Orson “OJ” Elrington seeking an adjournment for unforeseen reasons why he could not make it to court today. Magistrate Mannon granted the adjournment, but set aside April twenty-fourth for substantive arguments.
