Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (AP) — At least 15 soldiers have been killed when a vehicle hit a mine in northern Burkina Faso. "The results of the two incidents show that 15 soldiers were killed and one wounded. Property damage was also recorded," the military statement said. said. “The Army Chief of Staff extends his condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded.
No group has yet been held responsible for the attack and an investigation is ongoing, the military said.
Burkina Faso is grappling with a surge in jihad violence linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group that has killed thousands and displaced nearly two million.
