Alex Ovechkin has a keen interest in the internet, regardless of sport.
Washington Capitals superstar captain signed a one-day contract with football club FC Dynamo Moscow on Saturday. He then went on the pitch later that day and scored a goal to help his club beat Amkar 5-0 in an exhibition match.
Ovechkin's goal was familiar. After all, he scored from the left — like much of his one-time from the face-off circle on the left on the ice.
The three Hart Memorial Trophy winners celebrated on the pitch with about the same strength and enthusiasm he traditionally did on ice.
Ovechkin scored 780 goals as 21 shy in his second match against the Gordy Howe in NHL history. Wayne Gretzky is at the top of the list with 894 goals.
