Mendon, Missouri (AP) — Passenger trains derailed in Missouri on Monday afternoon and some passengers reported first Was injured, said Amtrak.

Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods said the Southwestern chief was carrying about 243 passengers when he collided with Mendon's dump truck at 1:42 pm.

The train was traveling from Chicago to Los Angeles. Mendon is about 84 miles (135 kilometers) northeast of Kansas City.
