Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak was diagnosed with a broken left middle finger the day after he was hit by a pitch on a 9th inning bunt attempt during a doubleheader nightcap against the Seattle Mariners.

X-rays revealed a fractured fingertip, and Moniak will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days after him. Injuries are not considered season-ending.

This is the second time Moniak has suffered a hand injury this season. He broke his right hand during spring training with the Philadelphia Phillies.

"Obviously you never want this to happen. You want a game on the field," Moniak told reporters on Sunday. Let alone twice a year. It's not ideal, but it's the reality.”

Angels interim manager Phil Nevin was encouraged that his injury hadn't worsened.

"From what we've seen, this is the best-case scenario for this break," Nevin said Sunday.

Moniak was the 1st overall pick by the Phillies in his 2016 draft. The Angels acquired right-handed Noah Syndergaard before the trade deadline on Tuesday in a trade that sent him to Philadelphia.

Moniak, 24, is in his fifth game with the Angels. He has 2 home runs and 3 RBIs and is batting 4-of-14. 129 with 1 home run and 5 RBIs in his 47 games of his Philadelphia career.

The Angels also lifted Steven his Dagger wave from the Texas Rangers on Sunday and named fellow outfielder Dillon his Thomas.

Duggar has batted .189 in 20 games this season with the San Francisco Giants (12 games) and the Rangers (8 games).

Thomas has been 11-1 (.091) in his eight games with Los Angeles.
