Arson squad investigates after 78-year-old man dies in Verdun fire

A 78-year-old man died early Monday after a fire broke out in the basement of a two-storey residence in Verdun.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

As is the case whenever a death occurs during a fire, the Montreal police arson squad has ben assigned to investigate.
