Squamish RCMP issued a public appeal to help find Tu on Thursday. Police believed Tu reached the top of the mountain before 11 a.m.
On Thursday evening, search and rescue crews found Tu’s body near the peak of Mount Harvey Thursday evening, said Squamish RCMP in a statement on Friday.
Police believe Tu’s death was accidental and he died from injuries.
“Unfortunately, this search did not have the outcome we were hoping for, and we are heartbroken for the man’s family,” said Const. Angela Kermer of Squamish RCMP.
“We are, however, very thankful to community volunteers who helped search, and to Lions Bay Search and Rescue who were exceptional with their work.”
