Mayor of Calgary Jyoti Gondek joins 43 Russian-licensed Canadians

CalgaryMayor Jyoti Gondekhas been approved by the Russian government, according to a statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Gondek was one of the 43 Canadians added to the list on Monday morning.

But creating the list didn't seem to upset Gondek at all — she said, "I don't care at all."

"I made a list. I'm 27th on the list of people who can't go to Russia," Gondek said at a press conference on Monday afternoon. "Congratulations."

I am following 61 Canadians who were sanctioned in April. Those on the list are permanently blocked from entering Russia, which is at war with Ukraine.
