Ivan Herrera's first career RBI defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3 against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

Herrera's eight sacrifice flies defeated a 3-3 tie to win relief Ryan Helsley (3-0) and win the Cardinals' final five outs.

Starting pitcher Miles Mikolas' Cardinals hit 9 batters in 6 innings, allowing 1 run with 4 hits.

Starting pitcher Adrian Sampson allowed 4 hits, 2 runs and 2 walks in 5 innings. Relief Mark Leiter Jr. (1-2) allowed two runs in eight innings.

The Cardinals advanced to one out with two outs, Paul Goldschmidt's single, Nolan Arenado's double and Brendan Donovan's two-run single.

The Cubs took the lead to 2-1 in the 5th inning. Patrick Wisdom and Nico Hoerner hit the singles, and Wisdom scored third base on the flyout and scored on Alfonso Rivas' sacrifice fly.

Nelson Velazquez followed in a single, but Micolas defeated Christopher Morel to end the threat.

Arenado greeted Relief Rowan Wick with a single in the sixth inning. Donovan walked and Dylan Carlson lined up RBI doubles, pushing the Cardinals lead to 3-1.

After Juan Yepez jumped out, Scott Efros rescued Wick and defeated Harrison Bader and Lars Nootbar to limit the damage.

Goldschmidt and Arenado hit a two-out single in the seventh inning of the rater, but Donovan grounded to finish the inning.

When Rafael Ortega followed Morrell's single with a two-run home run from Geo Bunny Galegos, the Cubs tied the game 3-3 in the eighth inning.

Helsley walked Contreras. Contreras came in second with a passing ball and third with a walk. After wisdom walked, Hoerner attacked to stranded the runners.

In the 8th inning, Yepes' one-out double triggered a winning rally. Pinch runner Edmundo Sosa was wild pitched to third place, and Birder walked. Herrera hit a sacrifice fly and Tommy Edman continued with a RBI single.
