Carpenter's two-run shot beats Tigers over Guardians

On Tuesday, Kelly Carpenter hit a home run for the second straight game as the Detroit Tigers defeated the hosts Cleveland Guardians, 4-3.

Carpenter's first career home run came in the second game of Monday's doubleheader. The Tigers had an eight straight losing streak in that contest.

Carpenter got on base in his fourth inning, while Harold Castro hit his third and drove his two runs out of his other for the Tigers.

Garrett Hill (3-3) limited Cleveland to his one run and his four hits in his sixth inning, while Gregory his Soto unsettled him in his 22nd save. survived 9th place.

Castro failed to catch Tyler's Freeman ground ball from shortstop Baez at first, allowing Cleveland to come a little closer in the seventh. Freeman scored on a fly ball that put him third and Miles scored on his straw ground ball.

Cleveland cut the Tigers' lead to his 4-3 in the bottom of the inning with Joe Jimenez. Rosario took the lead on triples and scored on Ramirez's single.

Freeman doubled to put him ahead of the ninth, and a sacrifice advanced him to third. Straw hit a foul chip and Francona was sent off. Kwan then hit a comeback to end the game.
