The Mount Sinai Hospital co-workers of Andrea Magalhaes, the mother of 16-year-old teenager Gabriel who was stabbed to death on Saturday night at Keele subway station, have arranged a GoFundMe for the family.
“Gabriel was 16 and he had so many dreams,” wrote fund organizer Melissa Blow.

“He had a zest for life like no other. He was loved beyond meaning. Andrea always speaks so highly of both of her boys. She was so proud to be his mother. He leaves behind his mother Andrea, father Antonio, brother Lucas and many family and friends.”
So far, it has raised $4,085 of its $50,000 goal as of late Tuesday morning.
“No mother should ever have to bury their child,” wrote Blow.
“Unfortunately for our friend and colleague Andrea Magalhaes, this nightmare has become her reality. Her NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) family is setting up this go fund me to help with the costs and burdens of this senseless tragedy. All proceeds will go to the immediate family to help with the bereavement process.”
Jordan O’Brien-Tobin, 22, of no fixed address, was arrested following the stabbing and was charged with first-degree murder.
Among those leaving messages on the GoFundMe page were Christine Guolla.
“Andrea I haven’t stopped thinking about you and your family. We all have our arms wrapped around you,” Guolla wrote.
