The Comox Valley RCMP said it had received reports that a man had been shot in the leg in the middle of the night on 30 July.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 41-year-old man with serious injuries and a double-barreled shotgun.

Calling 911 at approximately 12:30 am, he reported that he had been shot in the leg and was waiting for police and medical assistance in a park at Block 2000 Wallace Road, Comox. Monica Terrani said.
"The main criminal investigation unit is investigating."

Police Those involved in the incident have "no evidence" to suggest a continuing risk to police and the public.
A 41-year-old man was taken to hospital and is expected to recover.
