A male occupant was found outside the unit that had caught fire with serious burn injuries.
Capt. Matthew Trudeau said the fire started when open flames ignited combustibles inside the apartment. A working sprinkler system contained the fire, but smoke alarms in the building weren’t working.
The patient, a man about 34 years old, was treated on scene and transported to Vancouver General Hospital with “serious, life-threatening injuries,” said Trudeau.
