Firefighters shuttle water to extinguish rural fire

Ottawa firefighters had to set up a water relay system to battle a garage fire at a residence in rural Metcalfe Friday morning.

Ottawa Fire Services were called at about 10:20 a.m. for a report of fire at a home on 8th Line Road.

The first firefighter arrived at 10:26 a.m. and assisted the homeowner to leave the smoke-filled garage.

Firefighters attacked the fire in the garage and used an aerial ladder truck to access the attic and stop the spread of the fire into the main structure of the home.

The road was closed  between Pana Road and Forest Green Crescent while firefighters shuttled water to the scene.

There were no reported injuries.

An Ottawa Fire Services Investigator has been assigned to the case.
