Geno Smith will be the first quarterback on the field when the Seattle Seahawks visit the Pittsburgh Steelers for the preseason opener on Saturday.

Smith took most of the number one repetitions in practice, and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll ended the suspense Tuesday by saying Smith was "going to start the game this weekend."

Smith is hitting Drew his rock at the first gig. The Rock was acquired in an offseason deal that sent longtime starter Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.

Carroll said Smith performed well in the team's "mock match" last Saturday.

"He's still doing it," Carroll told reporters of Smith, who he's been 21 as an NFL starter since he was 13. “He played well too. He was really solid. He started really well. No. A little ragged at the line of scrimmage and then it showed up.But he got off to a really good start.”

According to Carroll, Rock did well, too. But the capsize with a sure touchdown hurt his show.

"He played on time, reacted quickly to football and made good decisions," Carroll said of Locke. “It's a shame he missed the chance to steal the ball in midfield towards the end of the game.

The 25-year-old Rock started 8-13 in 24 games for Denver in 2019-2019. Last season, he threw for 787 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in six of his games (three starts) while serving as Bridgewater's backup for Teddy.

Smith, 31, went 1-2 as a Seattle starter last year when Wilson sat out with a finger injury. Overall, Smith played in his four games, recording passes for 702 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception.

Smith had his 12-18 record with the New York Jets from 2013-16, but made his only start with the New York Giants in 2017. lost.

Overall, he finished 6,917 yards, 34 touchdowns and 37 in his 45 games with the Jets, Giants (2017), Los Angeles Chargers (2018) and Seahawks (2019-21). I recorded the pass of the interception.

Wilson, 33, has been a Seahawks starter since he was drafted in 2012. He led the team to his two Super Bowls, winning one, and the Pro Bowl, where he made nine appearances.
