The Pittsburgh Pirates have found a winning formula after losing five games in a row in the last two games, but it will be difficult to continue the second game of the four-game series against Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. ..
Michael Pérez hit three home runs in the series opener on Thursday, with Pirates winning 8-7. In the previous game, Bryan Reynolds hit the Washington Nationals three times with the same score.
"Hopefully, I hope the 3 Homer trains will continue to pass," said Pittsburgh pitcher JT Brubaker.
In the history of Major League Baseball, teammates have produced only one other 3 Homer game in a series of contests. The Atlanta Braves achieved a feat in September 2020.
Overall, Pirates hit five home runs the day after hitting four on Thursday. They finished with 44 long balls in June. This is the second highest total in a month, mostly due to young players.
"We've been talking all the time. Children have to contribute," said Derek Shelton, Pittsburgh's manager.
Homer doesn't always lead to victory — Pittsburgh went to 10-18 in June — but at least it helps bring things closer. Pirates have played in 45 games determined with less than two runs, including each of the last eight contests.
Milwaukee won the National League Central lead in close competition with the St. Louis Cardinals, but by Thursday he had won four straight games and missed the longest straight win of the season. The Brewers scored three runs for the ninth time before leaving the tying and go-a-head runs on the base.
"It was Homer who hurt us," said Craig Counsell, manager of Milwaukee.
This season, Brewers came primarily to Pittsburgh. They played 6-0 against Pirates in the April 2 series, 8-0 in last season's match series before the rally failed on Thursday.
Milwaukee's right-handed Corbin Burnes (6-4, 2.41 ERA) will start on Friday opposite Pittsburgh's right-handed Roansy Contreras (2-1, 2.76).
Contreras (22 years old) has a strong rookie season. His ERA is ranked number one among the rookies and has the last seven starts. He was eased by joining the bullpen, but since joining the rotation on May 24th he has been 1-1, ERA 2.60, strikeout 32 and walk 16 in 342/3 innings. ..

Contreras did not make a decision in Tampa Bay on Sunday after allowing one run in five innings.
Contreras begins his first career with Brewers. He threw three innings of relief at them on April 19 and gave up one run.
Burns has won the last three starts while pitching to 2.18 ERA on that stretch. He allowed the Toronto Blue Jays three runs and three hits in seven 2/3 innings on Saturday, trying to win with nine strikeouts and two walks.
"He was great for most of his start," Counsel said. "It's a stopper. It's the length of the game. It's zero.
" When there is such a guy, when his turn comes, you make a really good effort, go deep into the game, you I know I'm going to get zero. "
Burns was 5-0 against Pirates, scoring 2.78 ERA in 17 appearances, five of which I will start. This includes the April 19th jewels. With a 5-2 victory, he gave up two runs and four hits in seven innings, with no ten strikeouts and walks.
