TOKYO—Japan will consider holding a summit between Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Nikkei Sangyo Daily newspaper reported, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said in an interview on Friday.
Sino-Japanese relations have long been plagued by territorial disputes over small, uninhabited islets in the East China Sea, a legacy of Japan's wartime aggression and regional rivalry.
