John Isner broke the career ace ATP tour record after losing to Italy's 10-seeded Jannik Sinner in the third round of Wimbledon on Friday.
The fifth ace of the 6'10 American is number 13,729 in his career, surpassing the mark previously held by Croatia's Ivo Karlovic.
Isner, 37, recorded 24 aces on Fridays 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-3, increasing his total career to 13,748.
"It's really really cool. That's what I'm really proud of," Isner said looking forward to breaking the record before the match. "I will be the greatest leader ever. I will continue to play and add to the total .... I don't know if the [Record] will be broken. I could be there for a long time."
Ace records have been held by ATP MatchStats since 1991.
