About 150 police officers from Longueuil, Montreal, Laval and the the Richelieu regional police force launched a series of early morning raids Thursday aimed and breaking a cocaine distribution and trafficking ring.
The raids follow the launch of an investigation by Longueuil police in the fall of 2019 triggered by a tip from the public that a cocaine distribution ring was operating in their territory.
A subsequent surveillance operation led to a series of raids in Longueuil in June that netted a cocaine press, a kilogram of cocaine, quantities of crack cocaine and methamphetamine as well as $40,000 in cash.
Thursday morning’s raids, carried out in Longueuil, Brossard, Boucherville, Beloeil and Montreal, were described by Longueuil police as a continuation of their investigation. As of 7:30 a.m., 10 suspects had already been taken into custody.
