Man in critical condition after parking-lot brawl in Montreal's west end

An investigation has determined there were several people involved in the incident, all of whom fled before the arrival of police.

A 50-year-old man was in critical condition in hospital early Thursday after becoming involved in a physical altercation with at least one other person in the parking lot of a Décarie Blvd. restaurant.

Montreal police said the incident occurred at 10:15 p.m. outside a restaurant near the corner of Paré St., in the area of the former Blue Bonnets race course. The cause of the altercation remained unclear Thursday morning.

A crime scene has been set up at the site. Local surveillance cameras will be examined and witnesses interviewed in an effort to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
