The Seattle Mariners placed lefty Ryan Borutski on the 15-day injured list with a forearm flexor strain and recalled Brennan Bernardino from Triple-A Tacoma.
Borutski, 28, has made 21 relief appearances this season with the Mariners, going 2-0 with a 4.36 ERA. In his five seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays and Mariners, he went 10-9 with a 4.45 ERA and appeared in 96 games (19 starts).
Bernardino, 30, made his major league debut on July 31, conceding his three goals in two games. A 26th round pick in 2014, the Los Angeles native has pitched part of the last four seasons in Mexico.
