Maxwell fled to another room as FBI smashed down door

Ghislaine Maxwell wouldn’t let the FBI in and fled to another room when they kicked in the door of her home, prosecutors claimed.

The FBI found a mobile phone wrapped in tin foil when they busted their way in to the $1-million US home. Prosecutors called it a “seemingly misguided effort to evade detection” by police.

Maxwell is the alleged Jeffrey Epstein co-conspirator in an underage sex trafficking ring.

New York prosecutors used Maxwell’s alleged post-FBI arrival conduct as proof that she was “skilled at living in hiding” and should be denied bail.

She will appear in court on Tuesday and the question of bail will be determined then.

Maxwell, 58, is being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and she is being forced to wear paper clothes to ensure she doesn’t kill herself, as Epstein is alleged to have done while in custody.

Maxwell is accused of grooming girls as young as 14 for Epstein’s sex ring between 1994 and 97. She was his girlfriend at the time.

Prosecutors from the Southern District of New York filed a 19-page document on Monday about why Maxwell should not be granted bail.

She had offered a $5-million bond co-signed by two of her sisters and backed up by more than $3.75 million in property in the United Kingdom.

Prosectors argued that someone with three passports would be a flight risk.

Prosecutors said the FBI first arrived at a locked gate at Maxwell’s house, forced their way through and asked Maxwell to open the door.

Through a window, the agents said they saw Maxwell ignore them and try to flee to another room in the house, shutting the door behind her. The FBI got in and arrested her.

A guard told police Maxwell had not left the property during his time working there.

According to reports, Maxwell has moved 36 times in the year since Epstein’s death last August.
