(Watson officially came out as gay in 2019).
Over the years, many have joked the indefatigable mayor “would attend the opening of a letter.”
Most of these events come with a small gift of appreciation: sports jerseys and gear, posters, street signs.
There’ll be no room for it in his home, so they’ll be up for sale at a silent auction Tuesday, Oct. 4.
The event will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jean Pigott Place in the city hall complex hall.
Proceeds from the sales will go to the Ottawa Food Bank.
“The Ottawa Food Bank is reporting the highest service figures in its 38-year history,” the mayor noted on his Facebook page.
“From February to March 2022, 24% increase … which represents over 35,000 visits. March 2022 saw a 39% increase … which represents over 51,000 people.”
Admission is free.
