Melvin Gordon re-signed with the Denver Broncos, hoping to share a timeshare with Javonte Williams in his second year.
Two weeks into training camp, Gordon was I'm wondering if things have changed.
"I think they have a plan as to what they want, but as far as rotations, I really don't know," Gordon said Wednesday, according to team records. "I think they want 'Vonte' to be a man, but we rotate. He takes the first series, then [No. 1 offense] and I take. I don't know how they do the rotation.”
In 2021, Williams will back up Came out of the role and had a split (203 carries each) that tied Gordon, who led the team with 918 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Williams (903, 4) tied for his fourth on the team with 43 receptions and recorded his three TD catches.
Gordon and Williams are adjusting to new coach Nathaniel Hackett's offense. Hackett will take over after serving as offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, who shared a carry with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon.
"I'll have to go back and see how they did Carrie and stuff like that in Green Bay. "Other than that, I don't know what the future holds, but I just want to do my best, so when I do, they're like, 'OK, let him compete more.' I have a game. I know I can play and I'm still in good spirits, but let's see how it goes." Gordon, 29, said he's making his 1st attempt to return to the Broncos based on Hackett's big-picture pitch. I signed a contract for $2.5 million a year.
"Once you get there, you know you have to take it seriously. That's all there is to it," Gordon said. "I have to do what I need to do - 'Hack' told me, it's about the Super Bowl. It's about winning the Super Bowl and we do what's best for the team." I am 100 percent for that because I want the ring more than anything else.
