The New York Mets bring out two big guns to start the final two games of a four-game series in Atlanta.

In his second straight game against the Braves on Tuesday, the Mets lost a starting pitcher after two innings. Taijuan Walker was sent off with a back spasm after throwing just his 32 pitches.
On Monday, Carlos Carrasco was sent off with a strained left diagonal and was placed on the disabled list.
Now, with Atlanta winning his first two games of the series, the Mets need big finishes from Max Scherzer on Wednesday and Jacob deGrom on Thursday. The Braves cut the Mets' lead in the National League East to his 3.5 games.
"We feel he is one unit and is doing really well as one unit," said Scherzer, his right-hander . “We start by getting out there and delivering quality to the team and being consistent. We are the backbone of the team. Let the hitters be the muscles, let us be the backbone. We can't win."

Scherzer (8-2, 1.93 ERA) will face Atlanta right-hander Jake Odridge (4-4, 3.80 ERA) on Wednesday.
He finished a seven-inning stint against Philadelphia, allowing nine hits, six strikeouts and one run, the seventh time he pitched at least seven innings and allowed one run or less.
Scherzer is 12-9, has appeared in 29 career games (27 starts) against the Braves, has a 3.62 ERA, and allowed a walk in the second game of the doubleheader on August 6 against Atlanta. He pitched seven innings and fanned 11.
Odrizzi was acquired by Atlanta from Houston at trade deadline to add depth to the team's young starting rotation. Going 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA in two starts, the veteran pitched four innings, allowing two runs on eight hits, one walk and two strikeouts against Miami on Friday. 43}
