Michael Harris II drove the go-ahead run with a seeing-eye double in the seventh inning to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 3-2 victory over the visiting New York Mets on Thursday.

The win gave the Braves his 3–1 victory in the series and shortened the Mets' lead in the N.L. 3 1/2 games from the east. This is the first time the Mets have lost a series to a divisional opponent this season.

The winning rally began when Vaughn Grissom, his second-youngest player in the National League, retired starter Jacob He deGrom, who retired 12 straight hitters. .

When deGrom pitched in his 95th pitch, Mets back coach Showalter called reliever Seth He called Lugo. Lugo gave up a well-placed grounder to Harris, the youngest player in the majors. Grissom, who was running on the pitch, was able to slide home before the relay throw. Atlanta starter Max Freed (11-4) hit his head on the ground and was sent to the injured list for a concussion in his first start since Aug. 6. It showed no rust. The left-hander has 4 hits, 6 strikeouts and 2 runs. His only mistake was allowing a two-run homer to Mark Kanya, who hit a slider on the eighth pitch of an at-bat for his eighth home run of the season.

The Mets lost the battle. James McCann doubled in the eighth inning but got stuck there when Razel Iglesias entered and retired at Sterling Marte. Francisco his Lindor singled to lead off his ninth, but the Braves' closer Kenley his Jansen scored his 28th save with his next three outs.

deGrom (2-1) lost by allowing his three runs on his five hits and nine strikeouts. It was the first time he lost to the Braves since June 28, 2019.

The Braves took the lead in his third inning with a two-run lead. Dansby Swanson doubled home Robbie Grossman and scored off Austin Riley's line drive single to center field.
