Springfield, Missouri (AP) — A member of the Missouri State Assembly resigned after being convicted of falsely claiming to be treating patients with COVID-19 stem cell.

On Sunday, after the dispatch of St. Louis, Republican Nixa State Assembly member Tricia Darges reported that she had sent a resignation letter to Congressman Rob Bescovo on Friday.

She was convicted in June of 22 charges, including wire fraud, illegal distribution of controlled substances, and false statements to investigators.

The federal prosecutor claimed to have charged approximately $ 900,000 with federal funding for COVID-19 treatment that had not been performed or had already been performed. They also claimed that she promoted sheep water as a treatment for COVID-19 and other diseases by falsely claiming that the sheep membrane fluid contained stem cells.

Her drug license was put on a three-year trial period in January. At that time, she refused to leave the house, but was stripped of her committee duties and she was locked out of the party's Caucus meeting. The state GOP has banned her from running for reelection as a Republican member this fall.
