A motorcycle driver was in critical condition Saturday after a collision on northbound Highway 13 in Montreal, while the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene.

The collision happened just before 11 a.m. on Highway 13 near Hickmore St., said Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay.

He said the other driver “did not remain on the scene following the collision” and the incident “is being treated as a hit-and-run.”

Tremblay said the collision may have happened during a lane change. The motorcycle was in the left lane while the car was in the centre or right lane, and there was an impact that left the motorcycle on the ground.

The driver of the motorcycle, a woman in her 30s, was brought to a hospital where police fear for her life.

The SQ’s major crimes division is investigating. The highway was closed to traffic as investigators examined the scene.
